Mexico City, Mexico, September 29, 2026 – Nu, Latin America’s largest digital bank, announced today the appointment of Estephany Paulette Ley as CEO of Nu Mexico, starting at the beginning of November 2026. She will succeed Armando Herrera, who will assume the role of Senior Advisor to the CEO and support the transition through January 2027.

Nu also announced that Rodrigo Kuri has assumed the chairmanship of Nu Mexico's Board of Directors.

These appointments follow Nu Mexico’s transition to a bank and are intended to strengthen execution, business stability, strategic oversight, and institutional engagement, while keeping the company focused on offering simple, fair, and transparent financial products.

“With Estephany at the helm of Nu Mexico and Rodrigo as Chair of the Board of Directors, we are strengthening our day-to-day management, strategic oversight, and institutional engagement in the country”, said Livia Chanes, CEO of Nubank for Latin America. “When Armando joined the company, his primary objectives were clear: complete our transition to a bank, ensure the profitability of our business, and maintain our growth momentum. After successfully achieving these goals and following careful consideration, we agreed that this was the right time to begin a new chapter to build on these accomplishments and planned this succession together".

Estephany has more than 15 years of experience in the financial and banking sectors. Most recently, she served as Corporate Director of Retail Banking at BanCoppel, where she led initiatives in retail banking, credit, and financial inclusion. Previously, she held leadership positions in New Business Development and Strategic Partnerships, as well as Operational Excellence, Data, and Business Process Governance. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Finance and Economics from Boston University and an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth.

“I take on this challenge with enthusiasm, humility, and a deep sense of purpose. I have closely followed how Nu has transformed the relationship that millions of people in Mexico have with the financial system”, said Estephany Paulette Ley. “In this new stage, we have a unique opportunity to build on Nu’s progress as a bank and expand access to simple, fair, and transparent financial services. My commitment is to work alongside the entire team, with strong execution and our customers at the center of every decision, to help build a more inclusive and innovative financial system in Mexico.”

Rodrigo Kuri, Chairman of the Board of Directors

As Chairman of the Board of Directors, Rodrigo Kuri will lead the Board in guiding and overseeing Nu Mexico’s strategy, strengthening its corporate governance practices, and deepening engagement with key stakeholders across Mexico’s financial ecosystem.

Kuri has more than 25 years of experience in retail and commercial banking, as well as digital transformation. He is co-founder and CEO of Pacto, a process automation company focused on the financial sector, and co-founder and partner at Besant Capital, a real estate and technology investment platform. Previously, he served as CEO of the retail banking business at Banco Nacional de México and, at Banco Santander, led the commercial strategy in Mexico as Deputy General Manager, as well as Openbank’s digital transformation in Spain.

Nu Mexico is now the country’s largest digital bank, with 16 million customers and a presence in 98% of municipalities. In the first quarter of 2026, Nu Mexico reached break-even, following Nubank’s operations in Brazil, but at a faster pace. The company maintains a long-term commitment to Mexico, with total projected investment of USD 4.2 billion through 2030.
