Mexico City, October 20, 2026. Nu México presented the results of the fourth edition of Impacto Nu, its annual study on financial access, habits, and well-being among its customers. The presentation featured participation from Óscar Rosado, President of CONDUSEF, and Elizabeth Noriega Aguilar, Legal Vice President of the institution, who shared an institutional perspective on the challenges of financial well-being in Mexico.

Following its recent transition to a bank in Mexico, Nu’s report shows that the scale achieved amplifies its effect: 87% (+1 pp vs. 2025) of customers state that Nu has had a positive impact on their lives. Of this group, users highlight that the primary benefit is directly reflected in their personal finances, and 6 out of 10 report having started saving or increasing their financial reserves with Nu.

Inclusion that opens doors and closes gaps

The study demonstrates that Nu continues to serve as one of the primary gateways to the formal financial system in Mexico, as 1 out of 2 customers had attempted to access a financial product and was rejected by another institution before joining Nu. Additionally, 55% of its users (+6 pp vs. 2025) obtained their first credit card through Nu, half of them are women.

This progress is particularly significant given that women face greater barriers to access the traditional banking system: 23% point to high fees or minimum balance requirements as their main obstacle. By eliminating these costs, Nu has accelerated gender parity across its customer base, with women now representing 49% (+3 pp vs. 2025) of all users.

“Reaching over 16 million people proves that digitalization is not just a technological tool, but a true engine of inclusion that removes the physical and bureaucratic barriers of the traditional system. Nu's consolidation as a bank will boost our ability to deepen this impact, supporting people at every stage of their financial lives,” said Romina Benvenuti, Director of Public Policy and Legal at Nu México.

Better Habits and Financial Well-Being

Impacto Nu 2026 elevates the conversation from basic access to building sustainable financial habits by tracking changes in everyday money usage. 70% of users have reduced their cash usage (+10 pp vs. 2025) since joining Nu, and 95% used at least one digital payment method in the past month.

In terms of savings, 1 out of 2 Cuenta Nu customers has active Money Boxes (Cajitas), and 44% add money on a monthly basis, cementing savings as a recurring habit.   “The data shows that user-centered design and visible benefits transform daily behavior. By eliminating fees and complex paperwork, we drive digital adoption and accelerate the transition from informal savings to medium- and long-term planning,” highlighted Lorena Vega, Market Research Director at Nu México.

Regarding overall well-being, 84% of customers report feeling calm, secure, or hopeful when thinking about their money. At the same time, only 12.9% report high levels of stress regarding their debts, an indicator nearly three times lower than the national reference of 37% reported in the National Financial Health Survey (ENSAFI 2023).

For his part, Óscar Rosado Jiménez, President of CONDUSEF, noted that: “What is compelling about these results is that they allow us to look beyond how many people have access to financial services and ask ourselves what is actually changing in their lives as a result of that access. When someone starts saving, uses less cash, or feels more secure about their money, those are meaningful milestones. However, they also remind us that we still have work to do: ensuring that financial tools translate into better decision-making, a greater ability to handle unexpected events, and fewer financial worries. That is where we need to focus our attention.”

Methodology aligned with public policy

The fourth edition of Impacto Nu, based on a quantitative online survey of 1,763 customers, is the first to formally align with the official indicators of Mexico's National Financial Inclusion Policy 2025–2030 (PNIF). It also incorporates cross-analytical comparisons with the 2024 National Financial Inclusion Survey (ENIF) and ENSAFI 2023.

Nu will use these measurements to track the ongoing progress of its more than 16 million customers and address persistent challenges in access, usage, and financial well-being in Mexico, demonstrating that the maturity of its digital model translates into greater economic resilience and healthier financial habits.
