São Paulo, September 6, 2023 – Nubank, one of the world’s largest financial services platforms, announces the appointment of Elita Ariaz as Chief Legal Officer (CLO), effective February 2024. With an extensive background in the Latin American financial services sector, Ariaz will be responsible for leading Nubank’s Legal, Compliance, and Public Policy teams and will sit in the company’s management team.
Ariaz brings a wealth of experience and expertise to Nubank, as she has more recently served as Partner responsible for Human Resources and the Ombudsman Office of Banco Santander Brasil, which has more than 55,000 employees across several legal entities. Prior to this, she was Head of Legal Support for Business Operations at Banco Santander Brasil and Head of the Legal Department of the Investment Banking division at Banco Safra. Earlier in her career, she worked as a foreign attorney at Cameron & Hornbostel LLP in Washington, DC, and was an associate at Lebouf, Lamb, Greene, and MacRae, LLP in New York, focusing on corporate finance. She holds a degree in Law from the University of São Paulo, a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from Temple University – Pennsylvania, USA, and completed a Special Program in Corporate Finance from New York University, USA.
