Guadalajara, Jalisco — September 17, 2026 — As part of a joint effort to strengthen the innovation ecosystem and promote economic autonomy in the state, Nu Mexico and the Jalisco Secretariat for Economic Development (SEDECO) formalized a Framework Collaboration Agreement. The partnership establishes the foundation for strategic cooperation to develop practical programs focused on three pillars: financial education, digital confidence, and technology employability.
The first major milestone of this institutional alliance is the launch of “Generación Nu,” an initiative through which Nu Mexico will provide private funding as a donor to Laboratoria to fully finance a total of 300 technology training scholarships for women who are unemployed or underemployed.
Through “Generación Nu,” delivered by Laboratoria, beneficiaries will receive 12 weeks of intensive training to develop in-demand technical skills and personal financial management tools.
Cindy Blanco Ochoa, head of SEDECO Jalisco, welcomed the arrival of this project, which strengthens the state’s position as a benchmark for bringing together economic growth, technology, and substantive equality “We are talking about gender-responsive financial inclusion, driven by a public-private partnership. Our ongoing commitment is to create spaces for learning, connection, growth, and opportunities for young people—particularly spaces that strengthen women’s financial inclusion,” she emphasized.
On the other side, Romina Benvenuti, Nu Mexico’s Director of Public, Regulatory, and Legal Affairs, said: “This agreement formalizes a shared vision with the Government of Jalisco to build a more equitable and secure digital economy. Through practical financial education, cybersecurity, and technology training, we seek to democratize opportunities and provide women in Jalisco with real tools for their economic autonomy,” she added.
With the signing of this agreement, Nu Mexico and the Government of Jalisco are establishing a scalable model of high-impact, multisectoral cooperation that seeks to lay the foundation for a safer, more inclusive digital ecosystem prepared to meet the challenges of the future.
The scholarships announced today will be awarded through a call for applications coordinated by Laboratoria, which will be available starting September 21. The guidelines, stages, and requirements are available on its website.
Nu is Mexico’s largest digital bank, with 16 million customers—approximately 15% of the country’s adult population. Nu has served as a gateway to formal credit and savings for millions of people. For 54% of its customers, Nu was their first credit card, and 60% report having saved money since joining the platform.
